The Big Spring Steers cross country teams delivered impressive performances at the district meet, earning top honors and securing their place at the upcoming Regional Meet in Lubbock.
The Varsity Girls team ran with grit and consistency, finishing as District Runner-Up. Danica Alvarado led the team with a strong 4th-place finish, followed by Bergan Pinkley (12th), Kandace Gonzales (17th), Luna Jimenez (19th), Luse Hakoyban (27th), and Lynzi Arrieta (38th). Their collective effort highlighted the depth and determination of the squad.
Meanwhile, the Varsity Boys team dominated the field, running in a tight pack and scoring just 20 points to claim the District Championship. Jacob Marquez (2nd), Ines “CJ” Gonzales (3rd), Josh Calixto (4th), Eddyson Quezada (5th), and Thomas Sooter (6th) led the charge, with Nathan Garza (10th) and Loc Ramirez (11th) close behind to round out a commanding team performance.
Both teams will now head to Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock for the Regional Meet on Tuesday, October 21st. The Girls’ race begins at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Boys at 9:30 a.m.
With momentum and teamwork on their side, the Big Spring Steers are poised to make a strong showing at regionals.
