The Howard County Volunteer Fire Department is looking for volunteers. The qualifications to be a volunteer firefighter are to be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. You must be in good physical condition, have no felonies and be a U.S. citizen. You must also have a clean driving record.
Firefighters are encouraged to respond to 25% of calls and must complete 20 hours of training, done in-house. You are given a year to get a Class B drivers license. The HCVFD helps the applicate to secure any needed certifications.
