The UTPB Falcons continued their dominant start to the 2025 season with a thrilling 43–30 road victory over Texas A&M–Kingsville on Saturday. The win marked the Falcons’ third straight triumph and their first Lone Star Conference victory of the year, improving their record to 3–0 overall and 1–0 in conference play.
UTPB came out firing, jumping to a 16–0 lead early in the game. But the Javelinas clawed back, tying things up 23–23 in the fourth quarter. That’s when the Falcons flipped the switch—scoring three unanswered touchdowns and outpacing Kingsville 20–14 in the final frame to seal the win.
Quarterback Kanon Gibson led the charge with over 300 passing yards and three touchdowns, while also contributing 81 yards on the ground. Jaylon Tillman added explosive plays in the receiving game, helping stretch the field and keep the defense on its heels.
The Falcons’ offense was balanced and relentless, and the defense held strong when it mattered most. With this win, UTPB notched just its second-ever victory in Kingsville and solidified its spot among the top contenders in Division II football.
Next up, the Falcons return home to face Midwestern State on Saturday, September 27 at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m., and fans are encouraged to wear orange for the official “Orange Out” game.
