BIG SPRING, TX — The Big Spring Adoption Center, located directly behind the Big Spring Animal Shelter at 3605 W. 11th Place, is now officially open.
The Adoption Center is the old shelter newly renovated. It provides a cool, calm setting for the public to get to know the dogs, bond with them, and see if the dog will be a good fit for their family.
According to Big Spring Police Chief Chad Williams, the city’s animal shelter averages 4-5 pet adoptions per month but there are many animals still waiting to be adopted. Like many other places, the Big Spring Animal Shelter is short staffed. Anyone wanting to visit the shelter to view the dogs up for adoption must call the Animal Control number to schedule an appointment by contacting 432-263-4958.
The Adoption Center is still in need of an Adoption Coordinator. This position is responsible for coordinating all social media networking and public adoption events and activities related to the city animal shelter including, but not limited to, shelter operations, shelter adoptions, and volunteer program management to maintain smooth and efficient operation of the shelter through facilitation of open kennels by rescue/adoption.
