The Howard County Commissioners Court met this morning in the 3rd Floor Courtroom. The meeting began with the Court approving the county officials monthly reports. The Court then considered the quote for the generator supercenter for the courthouse generator replacements, approving the purchase of approximately $216,000. It was then decided by the Court to change the county website to Civic Plus, which offers more technical assistance to the County than the current provider and advanced ADA software. The Court then nominated Scott Emerson to the Howard County Central Appraisal District Board and chose to take no action on United Way Voluntary Payroll Deductions.
After a closed session, the Court then took no action on negotiations with ET Fuel related to economic development. All invoices were approved from Jackie Olson, County Auditor. There were no budget amendments and all the purchase requests were approved, including purchases related to plumbing in the courthouse. Brian Klinksiek, road engineer, gave the roadway maintenance and fleet management reports. Klinksiek also presented the contract with Halff with no changes. The Court voted to not hire Lone Star Consulting for grant writing opportunities and approved the resolution and order designating the Howard County Silver Hills Windpower Reinvestment Zone.
Sheriff Stan Parker then presented the Garza County Contract and the Glasscock County Memorandum of Agreement. Parker stated that Garza County increased the rate they are charging the county to house our prisoners to $72 daily, from $68 daily. Both the contract and the MOA were approved by the Court.
