The Good Scout Award Luncheon was held on Wednesday October 1 at the Club at Silver Hills. This year’s recipients for the Award were Michelle Hamlin and Mark Richardson.
Michelle Hamlin has been a Howard County resident for 28 years. She has been in education for 18 years, teaching at Big Spring ISD, Sands CISD and Glasscock County ISD. During her time teaching Hamlin has been a class sponsor, UIL coordinator and National Honor Society sponsor. She has served as president of the Big Spring Chamber of Commerce, Board Member of the Howard County Youth Horse Club, secretary of the Howard County Junior Livestock Association and as an adult leader with the Howard County 4-H.
Mark Richardson is a graduate of Big Spring High School and attained the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 5 in Big Spring. He is president of the Buffalo Trail Council. Richardson is a fundraiser for Baylor University and was the General Manager of KBEST Media. He has served on several boards such as: director for the “Quail Dobb’s Memorial Rodeo Parade” , Rodeo Board, Advisory Board for the Salvation Army, Board for Pops in the Park and the Big Spring Amphitheater Improvement Board.
The Buffalo Trail Council serves 18 counties in West Texas and more than 3,000 youth and host one of Scouting’s council-owned camps. The Buffalo Trail Council was incorporated in 1926.
