MIDLAND, TX — The University of Texas Permian Basin Falcons continued their undefeated run Saturday evening with a commanding 37–15 victory over Midwestern State University at Astound Broadband Stadium. The win moves UTPB to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Lone Star Conference play, solidifying their position as one of the top contenders in the region.
The Falcons wasted no time asserting control, erupting for 24 points in the second quarter and entering halftime with a 31–0 lead. Quarterback Kanon Gibson led the offensive charge, completing 21 of 29 passes for 331 yards and three touchdowns. His precision and poise kept the Mustangs’ defense on its heels throughout the night.
UTPB’s defense was equally impressive, holding Midwestern State’s passing game to just 71 yards and forcing multiple key stops. The Falcons outgained their opponent 564 to 296 in total yardage, showcasing a balanced attack and disciplined execution on both sides of the ball.
With the win, UTPB remains undefeated and now turns its attention to a pivotal matchup against No. 6 Angelo State on October 4. The upcoming game could have major implications for the Lone Star Conference title race, as both teams are expected to be in championship contention.
