BIG SPRING, TX — During last week’s meeting of the Big Spring ISD Board of Trustees, it was noted that there is a vacancy for the position of District 2 representative, previously held by Michell Garcia.
The results from the May 4th school election were canvassed. Tonya Gilstrap-Becker was sworn in as the new board member for District 4, and Alton McGruder was sworn in as the new board member for District 6. Officers were elected for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. Fabian Serrano was again appointed as President, Vice President was Trent Trinidad, and Tom Olague, Jr. was appointed as Secretary. The board also went over budget amendments including one amendment for $1000 to go toward training for the Guardian program for new Guardians within the district.
