BIG SPRING, TX — Yesterday afternoon, Big Spring High School held a mass letter of intent signing ceremony for eight students involved in their athletic program.
Aliza New, a student trainer at BSHS, will be continuing with Sports Medicine at Howard College in Big Spring, TX. Cambree Wright will cheer at the University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa, TX. Angelina Rivera will continue with dance at Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX.
Reece Harris will play golf at Ranger College in Ranger, TX. Harris has been playing golf for 7 years and feels that Ranger College will be able to help get him to the next level. He told KBest News that he was glad to see everyone there to support him and others. He plans to study golf course management.
Aracelee Alvarado will continue to compete in track and field and cross country at the North American University in Stafford, TX. After competing in her respective sports for 6 years, she says she’s scared about moving on but feels like she’s accomplished something. She plans to study business while at NAU.
Marcos Paredez, a 4-year starting catcher on varsity, will play baseball for Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville, OK. The university competes in NAIA Division II athletics. Paredez told KBest News he feels that the competition that OKWU faces will help him become a better player.
Christian Martinez and Elijah Gonzales will continue their golf careers at University of the Southwest in Hobbs, NM. Martinez has been playing golf since the 7th grade. When asked why he chose University of the Southwest, Martinez said a former teammate had given him a tour of the campus and he really liked it. Gonzales told KBest News that he liked the campus and the coach and already knew some of the people there. He said it felt comfortable and could see himself going there.
When asked how he felt about the mass signing, Gonzales said,” It feels great. I mean, I’m proud I’m able to make it this far and continue to take that next step. It just makes it better knowing that I get to go to college with one of my best friends and I get to sign with my two best golf friends that I’ve grown up with my whole life, so it’s just great.”
