COAHOMA, TX — The public is invited to join the Coahoma Economic Development Center, City of Coahoma, and Coahoma Pride for the season opening of the Coahoma Splash Pad and a dedication ceremony honoring all of their donors.
The project began 6 years ago after a community-wide survey showed that there was high interest in creating a splash pad. Coahoma Pride was able to raise $53,000 from community donors and the Coahoma EDC was able to multiply these donations to help make the project a reality. The EDC worked over a year on the project with Splash Pads USA, engineers, and the City of Coahoma, investing over $300,000.
According to Kandi Campbell with the Coahoma EDC, there is a phase 2 for the project that will be done.
“We plan on doing some tables, awnings, some different additions to the park, said Campbell.
A walking track has been added to the area, but the other upgrades are anticipated to happen over the next year.
The Coahoma Splash Pad, located at 306 North Ave., is open from 9 AM to 9 PM. Tomorrow, the Coahoma Splash In will be from 11 am to 2 pm with free hotdogs and drinks served by Western Bank.
