SCURRY COUNTY, TX — A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred in Scurry county on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
Texas DPS Troopers responded to the crash at 8 pm, along US Hwy 84. According to the preliminary investigation, the crash occurred after a driver failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming vehicle.
Colton Shane Guynes, 35, of Snyder, TX, the driver of a 2008 Saturn Outlook passenger car, was traveling west on Ennis Creek Road approaching US 84. He then entered US 84 crossing the northbound lanes traveling into the center crossover and entered the southbound lanes of US 84. He failed to yield the right of way to the oncoming vehicle, described as a 1999 3500 pickup truck. This caused the truck to strike the Saturn on its right side.
Guynes was transported to University Medical Center Hospital in Lubbock with incapacitating injuries. His passenger Victoria Ann Salinas, 22, of Snyder, Texas, was also transported to UMC Hospital. She was pronounced dead on 3/23/24 at 10:15 A.M.
The driver of the pickup, Eric Morin, 31, of Snyder, was transported to UMC Hospital for incapacitating injuries. His passenger a 13-year-old male from Snyder, was transported to Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder with non-incapacitating injuries. He was treated and released.
