BIG SPRING, TX — This weekend “Dark Road” by Laura Lundgren Smith was performed by the Big Spring Junior High’s Theater Department at the Big Spring High School’s auditorium.
The play is about Greta, a young girl living in Nazi Germany, who reads that the nearby women’s concentration camp is hiring guards, and she sees it as a chance to find her place in the world and provide for her sister. Soon she learns the reality of her duties and how to justify her crimes, heading further and further down the dark road laid by the Third Reich. The play is a powerful drama about the choices that allow evil to become ordinary.
“Dark Road” was performed by Big Spring Junior High’s Theater Department as their One-Act Play for UIL completion on Feb. 12, 2022. Cast members Emilia Morgan and Jacqueline Van Blarcom were recognized as All-Star Cast Members, Braxton Gonzales received Honorable Mention, and Jyllian Calixto was recognized as Outstanding Technician.
Congratulations to them.
