Early this morning, Howard County Volunteer Firefighters responded to a fire at the Vealmoor Gas Plant at 11703 E. FM 846 at approximately 5:19 am. HCVFD Chief Mitchell Hooper advised that responders had to allow the gas that was still in the line to burn off before they could extinguish the fire.
According to Hooper, the origin of the fire was a compressor station that caught fire. Volunteers used 38 gallons of class B foam and 2,178 gallons of water to extinguish fire. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
