The UT Permian Basin Falcons continued their early-season surge with a commanding 41–7 road victory over Adams State University on Saturday, marking a milestone moment for head coach Kris McCullough and his squad.
In their first away game of the 2025 campaign, the Falcons wasted no time asserting control at Rex Field in Alamosa, Colorado. Quarterback Issac Mooring led the charge with a precise 20-of-26 passing performance, racking up 266 yards and three touchdowns. His poise and accuracy helped UTPB build a 20–0 lead by halftime and maintain momentum throughout the contest.
Running back Kory Harris added balance to the offense, rushing for 54 yards and two scores on 11 carries. Wide receivers TJ McKenzie, Traylen Suel, and Jaylon Tillman each hauled in touchdown receptions, with McKenzie leading the group with 78 receiving yards.
Defensively, the Falcons delivered a highlight-reel moment when Jamarion Ravenell returned an interception 96 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. The unit held Adams State to just 12 passing yards, despite the Grizzlies’ 231-yard effort on the ground.
The win propels UTPB to a 2–0 start for the first time since 2021 and marks Coach McCullough’s first victory as a head coach in the state of Colorado. It also follows their season-opening triumph over then-No. 5 Central Oklahoma, reinforcing the Falcons’ growing reputation as a force in Division II football.
With a bye week ahead, UTPB will turn its attention to Lone Star Conference play, where they’ll face Texas A&M–Kingsville on September 20. If the Falcons’ early-season form is any indication, the road ahead looks promising—and potentially historic—for McCullough and his team.
