BIG SPRING, TX — Howard College and Big Spring High School have theatre performances this week. Both began yesterday and will run through Thursday, May 1st.
Howard College’s band, choir, and theatre program are collaborating for their production of the Big Band Pops Show in the F Marie Hall Center at 1001 Birdwell Lane. According to Mark Watt, Associate Professor and director for the band and choir at Howard College, the production combines music, acting, and dancing for a fun show.
“It’s all big band swing style music,” said Watt.
“The band is playing some medley’s by Glenn Miller. We’re doing ‘Sing, Sing, Sing’ by Benny Goodman, and a Duke Ellington medley. We’ve got a Frank Sinatra song, a Bing Crosby song, but lots of stuff mainly from the ’30s and ’40s.”
The show starts at 7:30 PM and admission is $5 per person and Howard College students and staff get in for free.
Big Spring High School’s Steer Theatre will perform their award-winning One-Act Play Mockingbird for the public. The play is based on the book MOCKINGBIRD by Kathryn Erskine, winner of the National Book Award. This will be at the Big Spring High School Auditorium at 7 PM. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
Again, both performances began last night and will continue through Thursday, May 1st.
