BIG SPRING, TX – The Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Health Fair with the theme of Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise at the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum on the Howard College campus, located at 1001 Birdwell Lane. This is a free event that is open to all from 9 AM to 1 PM and is family friendly. The health fair incorporates a variety of booths, demonstrations, and activities to encourage attendees to live healthy, wealthy, and wise.
There are approximately 30 vendor booths that will be set up with information, demos, and/or swag on the Sonic Floor. The Zumba demo will return this year, as well as the Bicycle Rodeo sponsored by the Greater Big Spring Rotary Club and ABS Wind.
According to Debbye Valverde, Executive Director for the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce, there will be 50 bike helmets for kids who go through the bicycle rodeo, and they’ll get to keep that helmet for free.
“We will also be raffling off the bikes that are used during the bike rodeo,” said Valverde.
The large ramp will be available for people to use to walk onto the Sonic Floor. Plus, the elevator near the athletic offices will also be available to use if needed.
In addition to the activities inside with the vendors, there will also be a Hawk Don’t Walk 5k that will begin at 8 PM with registration at 7 AM. The Vitalant Bloodmobile will also be on site collecting blood donations. Appointments to donate can be made at vitalant.org. Plus, Keep Big Spring Beautiful will have their Texas Trash Off with a 30 yard dumpster that will be set at the parking lot of the coliseum for use.
