BIG SPRING, TX — Local non-profit organization Keep Big Spring Beautiful continues to stay busy this spring with multiple events to encourage and empower local citizens to do their part in cleaning up the community. KBSB aims to empower Big Spring citizens through education to take responsibility for enhancing their community environment. So far, they’ve already partnered with the City of Big Spring earlier this month for an e-Waste Recycling Day, but they are teaming up again to collect unwanted tires.
On May 3, 2025 tires will be collected during a Tire Recycle day from 8 AM to noon at the Old City Landfill located at 4100 E. FM 700 in Big Spring. Only 5 tires per visit will be allowed. Note that no commercial tire dealers will be accepted, nor will any truck-tractor tires. For more information, contact Peggy Skiles at 432-270-2209, or Shane Bowles at 432-264-2500.
Other upcoming events for Keep Big Spring Beautiful include the annual “Trash Off” on April 26, 2025. This will be held on the same day as the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce Health Fair. On this date, trash containers will be provided at the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum parking lot from 9 am to noon.
In addition to this, Toasty Tuesday Trash-Offs will continue every Tuesday during Daylight Savings Time from 6:30 – 7:30 PM. Their schedule for the next few weeks is as follows:
March 18th – Access Road near CRMWD (Colorado River Municipal Water District)
March 25th – Westover
April 1st – Kate’s Fina
April 8th – Pilot
