EDINBURG, TX — Big Spring Lady Steer Powerlifters competed in the 4A state meet in Edinburg, Texas this past weekend. According to the Head Powerlifting Coach Sawyer Roberts, for the first time in the program’s history, a Big Spring lifter won a state championship medal.
Liah Garza with a 1000 lbs total placed 4th in the state in the 242 lbs weight class!
Monse Holguin with a 665 lbs total placed 12th in the state in the 114 lbs weight class!
Yvanka Martinez with a 690 lbs total placed 9th in the state in the 132 lbs weight class!
Quasett Woodruff with a 1140 lbs total is the 4A big School State Champion in the 242+ lbs weight class! She also received a $1000 dollar scholarship from Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association (THSWPA).
