HOWARD COUNTY, TX — The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified a Big Spring man as the victim of a motorcycle crash that occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
On March 5, 2025, at 3:46 PM Texas DPS Troopers responded to a crash along US 87 and Driver Rd. involving a 2023 Ram 2500 and a 2001 Harley Davidson Dyna.
The preliminary information revealed that truck, driven by Kenneth Leatherwood, male, 23 years of age, of Snyder, TX, was traveling southwest in the turning lane on South US Highway 87, approaching Driver Rd. The motorcycle, driven by Domingo Rios, male, 76 years of age, of Big Spring, TX, was traveling northeast in the outside lane on US Highway 87 approaching Driver Rd.
Leatherwood made a left-hand turn onto Driver Rd and failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle, resulting in a collision. Rios was transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center and pronounced deceased by medical staff as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Rios was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Leatherwood was not injured.
This crash remains under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
