BIG SPRING, TX — Ice skating is coming to Big Spring this week!
A mobile ice skating rink will be set up in downtown Big Spring at the Heart of the City Plaza on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024. It will remain until Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024. On Friday, the ice rink will be open from 9 AM to 8 PM. Cost is $20 per person. This fee covers 1 hour on the ice and includes ice skate rentals. On Saturday, the Christmas Extravaganza will run from 8 am to 8 pm. This will include mini photo sessions, face, painting, s’mores making, coffee flights, and more.
Lauren Hayley, owner of Shebrews and organizer of the event, explained that there are over 40 vendors.
“I think some of them have permanent jewelry. There’s food. One of the food vendors will have s’mores making. We have snow machines, face, painting, all kinds of stuff, kids crafts, and things like that, so, something for everyone,” she continued.
In addition to shopping and ice-skating, there will also be a pie eating contest and a baking contest. Anyone entering the baking contest must also submit a written recipe so it can be verified that it was not a store-bought pie. Note that there is a $5 entry fee for each contest and winners will receive a $50 gift card from H-E-B.
The last day to check out the ice rink will be on Sunday, Dec. 15th, from 10 AM to 8 PM.
Also, Hayley advised that they are currently looking for Christmas musicians who would like to showcase their talents during the event on Dec. 14, 2024.
