MIDLAND COUNTY, TX — A fatal crash in Midland County was reported on Sunday night. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred on SH 349 and FM 1213 on December 1, 2024 at 8:20 PM. It involved a 2015 Freightliner with trailer and a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic.
The preliminary information revealed that the semi truck with a towed trailer was traveling northbound on SH 349, approaching the intersection of FM 1213. The Chevrolet was traveling westbound on FM 1213 and disregarded the stop sign at the intersection of SH 349. The semi was struck by Chevrolet. The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as driven by Manuel De Jesus Sanchez Velasco, male, 45 years of age, of Fort Bend, TX, was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the semi, Jorge Luis Marquez, male, 40 years old, of Horizon City, TX, was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital with minor injury.
This crash remains under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
