BIG SPRING, TX — Several dogs at the Big Spring Animal Shelter are looking for a fur-ever family.
Dakota Stotyn, Adoption Coordinator for the Big Spring Animal Shelter, told KBest News that all the dogs posted on their Facebook page are highly adopt-able and have been in the shelter for a while and are at risk.
I work with them on walking on a leash. They have to be good with other dogs, other cats, men, women, kids. They get tested, pretty much, for all of that. So, all of the dogs I posted in that recent post, I mean, you name it they’re probably good with it. They love other dogs, love other cats, good with kids. Adoptions at the shelter have been kinda low,” explained Stotyn.
The Big Spring Animal Shelter is not a no-kill shelter. This means that animals that have been at the shelter the longest are at risk of being terminated.
This year, from January to July, the Big Spring Animal Shelter has seen 61 adoptions and 107 rescues. All the pets at the shelter have come from families that surrendered them to the shelter, came off the street, or came from terrible living situations. Even though they came to the shelter under different circumstances, Stotyn said they are all desperate for love.
The Big Spring Animal Shelter is located at 3605 E 11th Pl. The best time to visit the shelter is 1-4 pm. For more information, call 432-263-4958.
