Today, we are putting a spotlight on a local up and coming basketball star, 12-year-old Jonah Moore.
For several years, Jonah has had a passion for basketball. He has worked hard to build his skillset with the ball by not only playing little league, but also teaming up with Joe Bright Basketball to continue to polish his skills on the court. Jonah was invited in 2023 to experience the Chris Paul Academy Camp in Dallas and ended up in the top 100 players. This year, he will soon be playing with All-State Game in Dallas this weekend, June 7 – June 9, 2024, which is by invitation only.
“I really love playing basketball because I can show off my talents and my skills and what I’ve been working on,” said Jonah about why he enjoys basketball.
Coach Joe Bright told KBest News that Jonah is not just a great basketball player, but a great person too.
“So that’s why I feel like it’s very big [opportunity] definitely around here in Big Spring, [because] we just give them that exposure. [Jonah] is a great individual who is willing to help others… I just feel like we just got to give him his flowers,” continued Coach Bright.
When asked what he might say to someone who was interested in getting into basketball for the first time, Jonah said, “You really just gotta try it, because if you try it, you might be really good at it, and if you’re not, you just gotta work at it and just keep building up.”
