BIG SPRING, TX – Tomorrow, the public is invited to a Lunch and Learn to learn more about the organization CASA of West Texas. CASA stands for court-appointed special advocates. It’ll be held from 12 to 1 pm at their office located at 1811 Scurry St.
The mission of CASA is to recruit, train and support committed volunteers appointed by judges to advocate in court and in the community for the best interest of children in the child welfare system.
CASA of West Texas supports volunteers who advocate for child abuse victims in 7 counties including Howard and surrounding counties.
Ariel Sanchez, Volunteer Recruiter and Marketing Specialist for CASA of West Texas, advised that the organization will begin volunteer training on April 2nd. It’s a 39 hour training that is spread out over 6-7 weeks and they usually take place in the evenings and you’ll be trained on how to effectively advocate for children who are in the foster care system in our seven-county service area.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer is encouraged to attend tomorrow’s Lunch and Learn for more information. Plus, for more information on CASA of West Texas you can visit their website at www.casawtx.org.
