BIG SPRING, TX — The Big Spring City Council will meet for a regular meeting tonight at 407 E. 4th St. in Big Spring. Items for tonight’s agenda include multiple public hearings. The first will be in regard to a proposed 2024 Master Parks Plan, the second will be a zone change from General Residential to Heavy Commercial for 3.450 acres of land generally located at W. Business 20 east of Old State Highway 80, the last two public hearings will be to consider possible abatement of a public nuisance. Those properties that will be discussed are 1008 E. 12th owned by Tyra Lendermon, and 1400 State Park, owned by Earl D. Kolden.
The City Manager’s Report will cover Large Item Pickup for District 2, the upcoming city holiday for President’s Day on Feb. 19th, and installation of the cardboard recycling bailer. There will also be updates on the Atmos Lane Closure for maintenance, an update on the road maintenance on Birdwell Lane from 25th St. to FM 700, and an update on the opening of the auditorium. There will also be a presentation regarding staff recommendations for police/fire retention and recruitment, and a report on the administrative hearings held on Feb. 7th concerning abatement and premises nuisance violations.
Council members will also consider multiple budget amendments, consider an agreement with Evergreen Solutions, LLC to conduct a Compensation Market Study, consider a lease for a term up to 50 years with Vero Fiber Networks, LLC discuss and possibly have action regarding the Russ McEwen Family Aquatic Center grant funded capital projects.
