COAHOMA, Texas — The Coahoma High School powerlifters brought the heat to their host meet on Saturday and were rewarded with a bag full of hardware.
In the boys division, the Bulldog team captured second place with 38 points, and were just four points shy of the meet champion, Big Spring. The Steers tallied 42 points for the win. Roscoe Collegiate and Colorado City finished third and fourth respectively.
In the girls division, the Bulldogette team ended the meet in fifth place after picking up 19 points. The Big Spring Lady Steers walked away with the championship finishing with 40 points. Roscoe Collegiate, Colorado City, and San Angelo Grape Creek placed second, third and fourth respectively.
Overall, the Coahoma powerlifting team earned four golds, two silvers, and four bronze medals.
First place Coahoma finishers and their total pounds lifted were Cloud Arriola (1230), Jason Mundell (1150), Nevaeh Kerby (580), and Macayla Valencia (594).
Second place finishers for Coahoma were Tres Vazquez (1080), and Jaidyn Vineyard (1200). Third place finishers for Coahoma were Bryce Davis (910), Bryan Pearson (1005), Jacob Padron (1110), and Mikaela Vasquez (685). Bulldogs Aiden Bryand (1015), and Cristian Garcia (1155) placed fourth in their respective weight class while Reagan Chapman (945) finished in fifth place. For the Bulldogettes, Areyanna Loe, (555), placed fourth in her weight class.
Next: The Bulldogette powerlifting team will participate at the Forsan Invitational Powerlifting meet on Feb. 3.
