GLASSCOCK COUNTY, TX — A fatal three vehicle crash in Glasscock County leaves one dead along with several cattle.
On Friday morning at 8:07 AM, Texas DPS Troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash along State Highway 158, 10 miles west of Garden City. The crash involved three semi-trucks with trailers.
According to the preliminary information, it was revealed Edward Scott Abendroth, Jr., 28, of Midland, TX, was traveling eastbound on SH 158. A second truck was traveling in front of him, also eastbound. Abendroth failed to control his speed and struck the trailer of the semi-truck from the rear. The third vehicle involved was traveling westbound on SH 158 and was struck by debris from the collision. The collision with the debris caused the driver to lose control of the semi-truck and the towed trailer, causing both side skid and rollover. The trailer of the third vehicle was a cattle hauler loaded with approximately 120 cattle, and 44 were deceased on the scene. Abendroth was pronounced deceased on the scene.
