WEST TEXAS — Some Odessa residents were awoken around 4:42 AM by a 3.6 magnitude earthquake on Saturday morning. The earthquake hit 6.3 miles north of Odessa and most people didn’t even feel it as they were asleep at the time of the event.
Later in the day Saturday, another quake hit 8.6 miles north of Snyder. That one registering 3.3 magnitude according to the U.S. Geological Survey website earthquakes.usgs.gov.
There are several fault lines surrounding the Midland/Odessa area so some earthquake activity is to be expected according to the USGS.
