BIG SPRING, TX — Aerial spraying for mosquitoes was scheduled to occur yesterday evening in Big Spring. City administration reassures the public that this procedure and product has been approved by FEMA, the Texas Emergency Management Agency, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
Aerial spraying is particularly effective to reach hillside and rural areas in Big Spring that truck-mounted sprayers cannot reach.
Vector Disease Control International, the company that was used, specializes in aerial application, has been in business since 1992, and has over 40 offices across the United States. These products were applied in strict accordance with label instructions as set forth and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency. The company is fully licensed and certified by Federal monitoring agencies.
