STANTON, TX – Martin County Hospital District in Stanton recently landed on a list for the Top 20 critical access hospitals in America in the patient satisfaction area.
“This patient satisfaction award is a result of a survey of our patients and how our patients feel about us and the services we provide. It really is a very huge compliment to our staff and very great affirmation to them for the great job that they do day in and day out,” said Nancy Cooke, CEO for Martin County Hospital District.
There are over 1,353 critical access hospitals in the U.S. A critical access hospital (CAH) is a medical center that provides healthcare services to rural, often underserved communities.
These hospitals are important because they bridge the gap for citizens who live in rural areas.
“Even Midland and Odessa don’t have all services for all things in the medical world, but you want to get your primary care and basic care at home, and you want to be receiving that care from individuals that you know and trust,” said Cooke.
“I think that’s one of the big things about this award is because it does reinforce that our citizens appreciate us and appreciate the care that we give and that we are there to take care of them,” she continued.
The top 20 CAHs, including Martin County Hospital District, scored best among CAHs as determined by the Chartis Center for Rural Health for patient satisfaction. The rankings were recently announced by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). An awards ceremony will be held during NRHA’s Critical Access Hospital Conference in September in Kansas City, Mo.
