BIG SPRING, TX — On Wednesday afternoon the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Keep Big Spring Beautiful West Gateway Monument Project. It is located along eastbound I-20 near exit 174 in Big Spring.
The Big Spring Convention and Visitors Bureau partnered with Keep Big Spring Beautiful and contributed $15,000 for the project. The monument was constructed by Hawkins Construction. According to Anna Scott with Keep Big Spring Beautiful, the monument stands 17 feet tall and weighs 42,000 pounds. She stated that the goal is to have a gateway monument at every entry coming into Big Spring.
