BIG SPRING, TX — Dathan Jones, CEO of the Big Spring YMCA, was recently presented with a $1000 donation from the Howard County Democrats to be used for scholarships for the YMCA Summer Youth Program.
The summer program provides a full day camp for school age children. The daily, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, program offers a variety of physical activities including swimming in the YMCA pool.
Many working families need assistance paying the registration fees, especially when they have several children wanting to enroll in the program. Families can apply for scholarships through the YMCA to help reduce the fees for the program.
Howard County Democrats Chairperson Rebecca Moughon said “This donation is an investment in our community. Scholarships for the YMCA increase the number of children who can participate in the program. The YMCA has been a mainstay of physical health and emotional well-being in our community for many years. It is our honor to support them and our local families.”
The YMCA welcomes summer program scholarship donations from individuals and organizations in our community.
