BIG SPRING, TX — The annual fundraising event Cars and Stars, hosted by the Big Spring Rotary Club and the Volunteer Services Council of the Big Spring State Hospital, was held this past Saturday. Money raised from the event goes to the Big Spring Rotary Club to assist with their projects throughout the year, as well as student scholarships. Part of it also goes to help the Volunteer Services Council in providing extracurricular activities for patients at the Big Spring State Hospital.
According to Carl Reid, event director, this year’s event was a huge success mostly due to the casino table sponsors. Approximately $70k had been raised throughout the night. It was estimated that 800 people were in attendance for the event, almost double the amount of people that had attended past events.
Reid thanked the sponsors and people of Big Spring and Howard County, and they’re looking forward to next year.
Out of the 1,000 tickets sold, Anita Cline won a vehicle of her choice between the following: a Keystone Bullet Crossfire Camper, a Chevy Trailblazer RS, a Jeep Compass, and a Ford Escape. This year’s runner up, Harrison Chevalier, won $1,000.
