BIG SPRING, TX — On Saturday, November 12th, the City of Big Spring will sponsor an event with the Military Heritage Association to honor veterans. The Military Heritage Association is made up of groups with the following 501 (c)(3) organizations – the Hangar 25 Air Museum and the Vietnam Veteran Memorial in Big Spring, as well as the Midland-Odessa Vietnam Veteran Memorial group (who has pledged to build a new memorial in Big Spring). This event will be held at the Hangar 25 Air Museum, with various events happening throughout the day.
Mike Feeley, Airpark Director and U.S. Navy Veteran, told KBest News events include a cornhole tournament, a 5k run, and an 1/8th mile drag race.
“We’ve got 50 cars already signed up. Some of them will exceed 170 mph in an 1/8th of a mile. We’ve got a car show, as well, with 40 cars signed up for the car show,” continued Feeley.
He went on to say there will also be food trucks and live music. The event is entirely free for spectators.
Blowout at the Bunk will be an all-day event with the 5k beginning at 9 AM at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, followed by the drag race and car show. Activities are expected to continue until 8 PM.
