BIG SPRING, TEXAS — This year marks a major milestone for the West Texas Community Mediation Center (WTXCMC): five years of dedicated service to Big Spring, Howard County, and the surrounding West Texas region.
“Since opening our doors, we’ve remained committed to resolving conflicts, building understanding, and strengthening relationships one conversation and one family at a time,” says Danette Ross Watson, Founder and Executive Director of WTXCMC.
From various services and classes aimed at reducing violence and supporting a conflict-free community to family disputes and court matters; youth sessions and senior outreach, WTXCMC has grown into a trusted community resource, bringing people together through the power of dialogue and peaceful resolution.
“None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of a dedicated Board of volunteers that believe in the mission and efforts of the executive director. In addition, we are grateful to our generous Legacy Partners, Community Partners, and Sponsors,” says Watson. “Their belief in our mission has helped us thrive and expand our reach during both calm and challenging times.”
Honoring the Legacy Partners
Legacy Partners have been with WTXCMC since the beginning or made an impactful in-kind or financial contribution. They are: United Way of Big Spring and Howard County, Home Depot, Walmart Store #513 of Big Spring, The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee Delek US, Dora Roberts Foundation, H-E-B, Family Faith Center, Broughton Foundation, the Big Spring Area Community Foundation, and Solomon’s Way ADR Services. According to Watson, their initial and/or ongoing investment into this endeavor made it possible to launch and sustain this vision and their mission. They believed in what was possible — and now, five years later, that belief has had a tangible impact for many individuals and families across the region.
Thank You to Community Partners
Whether through grants or in-kind donations, collaboration, referrals, or shared initiatives, our Community Partners help ensure that no one has to face conflict alone.
“Special shout outs to Office Depot, SM Energy and Invenergy Services, your teamwork enhances the quality of our services and allows us to reach more people with dignity and care,” said Watson.
Deep Gratitude to Our Sponsors
Watson advised that their financial or in-kind donations, and event support have helped them to operate with excellence and to continue offering services at little to no cost for those in need. From pantry supplies to senior luncheons to youth programming — their generosity touches every corner of their work.
“As we reflect on the past five years, we are humbled, filled with pride, gratitude, and renewed commitment. The road ahead is full of possibility, and with your continued support, we look forward to expanding our programs, reaching more communities, and continuing to be a place where people find solutions, hope, and healing,” she continued.
Upcoming Event
WTXCMC will host its annual “Back-2-School” event on August 23, 2025 at 11:00am-2:00pm.
