BIG SPRING, TX — The Salvation Army and the Red Shield Youth Program in Big Spring recently celebrated a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the completion of a construction project that added a new and secure playground area for the facility.
Major Dean Moretz, corps officer for the Salvation Army in Big Spring, told KBest News that the organization had been wanting a playground area for 10 years. After receiving a couple of grants and a generous donation, the organization was able to break ground on the project back in March. On Tuesday, they were finally able to celebrate the completion of the project.
Major Moretz said thanks to the new playground area the kids in the Red Shield Youth Program now have a safe place to play outside.
According to Major Moretz, the playground facility cost an estimated $325,000. The playground area is for private use only by the Red Shield Youth Program, but members of the public are welcome to stop by and take a tour of it.
