BIG SPRING, TX – The 91st annual Big Spring Cowboy Reunion & Rodeo was held this weekend, and it brought multiple fan favorite events: Bull Riding, Barrel Racing, and Mutton Bustin’.
Diane Hofacket, who’s worked the Mutton Busting competitions for over 30 years, described Mutton Bustin’ as, “[there’s] a kid on a sheep, and they hang on [for] their life until the very end, and the one that rides the longest usually wins.”
Hofacket told KBest News that the kids who participate in the event are always great. Plus, the event draws a crowd.
“Everybody comes out to watch the mutton bustin’: the parents, the grandparents, aunts, and uncles, cousins,” she continued.
Multiple participants competed in the event. On Thursday night, first place went to Sophia Salazar. On Friday, first place went to McKoy Hughes, and on Saturday, Ryder Foster placed first.
Congratulations to them all!
