Re: Storm Debris Collection and Disposal
Big Spring, Texas – Following Sunday’s storm event that caused widespread damage, the City of Big Spring is beginning a targeted storm debris disposal program to assist our citizens dispose of storm debris responsibly! The city is providing the following options for residents to dispose of storm debris.
1. The City has established a temporary drop-off location where residents can bring their storm debris for disposal. The free residential debris drop off location is the old City Landfill located at 4100 East FM 700.
• Collection Dates: Dispose of residential storm debris for free at the old landfill from Wednesday, June 11, 2025, through Friday, June 13, 2025, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Please note that we are unable to accept any commercial or construction debris during this time. Citizens are reminded that metal debris can be taken to the Big Sandy Landfill (3601 Old Colorado City Highway) free of charge at any time.
2. Large/Bulk Item Pickup on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. The program will proceed as usual for District 6 residents. All eligible items will be collected in District 6.
• Residents outside of District 6 will be permitted to dispose of STORM DEBRIS ONLY during Large/Bulk Item Pickup on June 18th. No appliances, furniture, or household items will be collected outside of District 6.
• Residents should place storm debris at the curb, separate from regular trash. Large brush and tree limbs should be bundled and placed curbside
