Yesterday, Coahoma’s Hannah Wells was named the 2024- 2025 Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year. This is the top honor in high school sports celebrating the nation‘s best high school athletes for success on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
Wells led the Bulldogettes to their third UIL 3A D2 Softball State Championship, making Cohaoma the first team in Texas to have a three-peat state softball championship. During her time with the Bulldogettes, the program achieved a historic winning streak reaching 91 games before winning the championship.
In addition to being a stellar athlete on the field, Wells also maintained an A average in the classroom and was named the Saluatorian for Coahoma’s 2025 graduating class. She has also volunteered with Tate’s Place, a local non-profit devoted to providing for those in need.
In the fall, Wells will attend the University of Texas in Austin, where she’s committed to playing softball for the university.
