Last week Coahoma FFA members wrapped up their 2025 Career Development Events (CDE) season. Four of Coahoma’s six teams competed in state level contests with teams of all classifications from 1A to 6A.
The following are results from state competitions held on the Sam Houston State University campus.
• 27th, Agriculture Sales team, Savannah Cantu, Kaylee Davis, Kylee Key, and Charlie Mashburn.
• 47th, Farm Business Management team, Sylas Privett, Sydney Frech, Mason Franco, and Iris Gaitan.
• 58th, Floriculture team, Emily Green, Zylee Lozano, Mia Murrieta and Allison Mesta.
In addition, the Veterinary Science team of Addyson Hughes, Ava Alaman, Kaylee Davis, and Ashlyn Hipp competed at state competition on the Texas A&M University campus and finished in 31st place.
This season 31 Coahoma FFA members traveled more than 4,026 miles in Texas — as far south as College Station and as far north as Canyon — to hone their abilities. The chapter had 24 students compete in area level contests and 16 of those advanced to the state level.
“Thank you to our seniors — Charlie, Kylee, Savannah, Sylas, Emily, Ashlyn, and Addyson — who have helped build this part of our program and poured their time and energy into their team members. We see you and appreciate you. You will be missed,” said Ashley Pierce, Coahoma FFA sponsor.
Pierce added her warm appreciation for the support of the Coahoma FFA parents, Coahoma FFA booster club, and Coahoma High School administration staff.
“Thank you to Mrs. (Kristen) Joslin, Ms.(Maina) Cisneros, Mr. (Robbie) Russell, and Coach (KC) Rater for helping drive these students across the state,” she said.
FFA is a national youth organization focused on developing personal growth, leadership, and career success for its members through agricultural education.
