COAHOMA, Texas — Baylor Wright is taking her athletic talents to the next level.
The Coahoma High School senior will sign her letter of intent to join the Angelo State University Rambelles track and field team at 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday. The signing ceremony will be held at the Coahoma Elementary School competition gym and is open to the public.
Wright is a 2024 UIL state silver medalist in the pole vault event and has captured back-to-back Region I-3A championship titles, winning the event in both 2024 and 2025. She set the school record with her personal best vault of 12 feet at the Region I meet on April 18, 2025, held at Elmer Gray Stadium on the Abilene Christian University campus. Additionally, Wright has qualified multiple times for the Region I meet in various relay events throughout her high school career.
In addition to being a standout track athlete, Wright is a four-year varsity member of the back-to-back state champion softball team, playing in the outfield. She has earned two gold state medals and one silver medal at UIL 3A state championship tournaments from 2022 to 2024.
Wright is also a four-year player on the varsity basketball team. As the only senior, she led the team this past season to win the District 3-3A title and reach the semi-regional round of the UIL state girls basketball playoffs.
Wright will join the Angelo State University Rambelles in the fall of 2025. ASU competes in NCAA Division II and is a member of the Lone Star Conference.
