BIG SPRING, TX — The Big Spring Art Association will open their annual Area Wide Art Show on May 1st and it will continue through May 31, 2025.
Entries will be accepted Tuesday, April 29th, and Wednesday, April 30th, from 10 AM until 4 PM at the Heritage Museum, located at 510 Scurry St. in Big Spring. To participate, the fee is $10 per entry for all Big Spring Art Association members, or $15 per entry for non-members. Note, all current non-members are welcome to join the BSAA. Their annual dues are $20 for adults and $15 for students.
Entry fees are non-refundable, and all works must be for sale. There is a 30 percent commission on all artwork sold during the show.
Categories include:
- oil/acrylics,
- pastels/colored pencil / charcoal / pencil,
- photography,
- mixed media,
- watercolor,
- 3D/Sculpture / pottery / jewelry / stained glass,
- miniatures (not to exceed 10″ in either direction)
- youth (children age 7-12, juniors 13-17).
A reception will be held at the end of the art show on May 31st from 2-4 pm and all artwork must be picked up at that time.
Cash awards will be given for Best of Show $300, People’s Choice $150, and 1st – 3rd place for each category with prizes that range from $50 to $150. The Youth division will receive art supplies in lieu of money prizes.
Eligibility Specifications:
Original framed artwork only. No workshop, classroom work, reproductions, or copies of published photographs and no previously shown in any BSAA show. Must be no larger than 40″ on either side of the frame. All artwork on paper must be under glass or plexiglass. All framework must be sturdy. Art work must be dry. All work must be wired for hanging. NO SAW TOOTH HANGERS.
