ECTOR COUNTY, TX — Two fatal crashes occurred in Ector County over the weekend.
The first was on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 and involved a bicyclist, identified as Jessica Jo Gatlin, female, 42 years of age, of Midland, TX.
According to Texas DPS, Troopers responded to a crash at FM 1936 and Blair at 7:39 PM. It involved Gatlin and a 2007 Suzuki Gran Vitara, driven by Angel Gonzalez Rodriguez, male, 46 years of age, of Odessa, TX. The vehicle was traveling southbound on FM 1936 in the left lane of travel. Gatlin crossed FM 1936, traveling west to east just north of Blair St. into the path of the Suzuki, resulting in a collision. Gatlin was pronounced deceased at the scene. Rodriguez was not injured.
The second crash was on Sunday evening and involved a 2004 Freightliner with trailer and a 2014 Ram 1500.
That 2-vehicle crash occurred on March 2, 2025 at 7:17 PM at Loop 338, mile marker 254. The preliminary information revealed that Ram was traveling eastbound on Loop 338, and the semi-truck was traveling westbound on Loop 338. The Ram overtook and passed another vehicle without sufficient clearance, resulting in a collision with the semi. The driver of the Ram, identified as Martin A. Holguin Duran, male, 59 years of age, of Odessa, TX, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Both of these crashes remain under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
