BIG SPRING, TX — On Thursday morning, the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony with ABS Wind USA, located at 604 N. Owens in Big Spring. ABS Wind USA is an engineering company with more than 25 years of experience providing the highest quality parts, services, and solutions for the wind industry worldwide, employing responsible and sustainable management while promoting processes and procedures aimed to minimize the environmental impact of their operations.
Brent Kelly, Texas Operations Manager, told KBest News that ABS Wind has 5 locations in the Big Spring area, are approaching 30 staff members, and are looking to grow.
When asked how he felt about the ribbon cutting, said it was a long time coming.
“We went through some restarts. We acquired the facilities in 2019 from Moventus, went through some operational changes, some hurdles to get in with some of the larger providers on our solution. We’ve had some hurdles with growing staff and having people come in to apply with us and work with us. We’re such a niche industry it’s hard to gain qualified individuals to join our team,” said Kelly.
He told KBest News that he is actively hiring for material handlers, entry-level and seasoned technicians, and for some logistics help.
“We do have guaranteed work for the next 25 years through our current business case. We’re not looking for a short term commitment out of anybody that joins us. We’re looking to build careers for individuals,” he continued.
