BIG SPRING, TX — Over the weekend, the first Fall Sip & Shop at the Castle was held at Lazy E Retreat in Big Spring. The event had several vendors, food, and wine samples One of the samples was a prickly pear wine made by C4 Ranch Vineyard, based in Howard County.
Shelbi Cervantes, owner, told KBest News that prickly pear wine isn’t common in the area.
“So, our prickly pears – we harvest and make them into juice ourselves the old-fashioned way, like your grandmother would can. Then we infuse our Moscato with our prickly pear juice, and that’s how we have our prickly pear Moscato,” said Cervantes.
She also said they had to file for a federal label to be able to add the prickly pear with the wine. Since putting word out about the prickly pear wine, Cervantes says the beverage has had a great response.
