BIG SPRING, TX — During last night’s regular meeting of the Big Spring ISD Board of Trustees, special recognition was given to the campus principals and assistant principals.
Discussion items included the findings of an Intruder Detection Audit. According to Jim Wommack, Director of Safety and Security for BSISD, this usually involves someone pulling on doors to check security. There was one finding on the audit, a door was found ajar. Wommack advised that doors and locking mechanisms, security policies, and practices were already in place. His action plan was for staff to shut their doors and check their doors to ensure that they are secure.
Also during the meeting, board members were advised that they would soon have to select a nominee for the Howard Central Appraisal District.
During action items, donations were accepted. $10,000 donation was accepted with the instructions that $5,000 would go to the Golden Belles and $5,000 would go to the BBQ team.
At the end of the meeting, Superintendent Jay McWilliams reported that the Cross Country teams had done a great job at the recent district meet with JV Boys and Girls teams winning District Champions, the Varsity Girls team was the runner-up for District Champions, and the Boys Varsity team was District Champions as well.
