BIG SPRING, TX – Blankenship Field at Big Spring High School recently got an upgrade!
According to Big Spring ISD Superintendent Jay McWilliams, the new turf was primarily added because soccer was added to the BSHS athletic program. He noted that the field is now marked for soccer and football. He told KBest News that the new surface is safer and better for the kids. Plus, it’s a nice area for band to practice on during marching season, and for BSISD elementary school field days. New goal posts and pads were also added as part of the upgrade at Blankenship.
The BSHS marching band will be the first group to try out the field today during practice. Junior High Football games will get to use the field tomorrow, and next week Steers football practice will be held at Blankenship Field.
