FISHER COUNTY, TX — Fisher County Sheriff’s Office recently released the list of people arrested in August, one of which is a Snyder teacher.
Christina Williams was arrested in Fisher County on Aug. 5, 2024 for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2 Greater than or Equal to 4 Grams but Less than 400 Grams and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. Williams is currently listed as an Art teacher at Snyder High School.
Snyder ISD has stated that they are aware of the recent situation and due to the ongoing nature of legal proceedings and the obligation to respect the privacy rights of their employees, they are unable to comment on specific personnel matters.
Bob Rauch, Snyder ISD Superintendent, told KBest News “Snyder ISD takes any concerns related to the conduct of its employees seriously and is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. As part of this commitment, we require all employees to undergo thorough fingerprinting and background checks prior to employment, in accordance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements and Snyder ISD Board Policy.
After an employee is cleared for hire, the District is notified through a registry if they are arrested for an alleged crime. In such instances, Snyder ISD follows established protocol by placing the employee on paid or unpaid leave while an investigation is conducted. We are committed to cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies.
We will continue to monitor this situation closely and will follow the established SISD and TEA policy regarding personnel matters.”
