GAINES COUNTY, TX — On Thursday night a fatal crash involving a Seminole ISD school bus was reported in Gaines County near US 385 & Country Road 320.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the preliminary information revealed that the bus was traveling northbound on US-385 in the outside lane. 2005 GMC Yukon was traveling eastbound on CR-320 and turned left onto US-385. The Yukon failed to yield the right of way to the school bus and was struck by the bus. The collision caused the Yukon to roll over into the barrow ditch. The bus remained upright and came to a stop facing northbound on the shoulder of US-385. The bus was returning from a school athletic event and had 25 Seminole High School students on board. The students reported no injuries at the time of the crash, and all students were released to school officials at the scene. The driver of Yukon was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The identity of the driver has not yet been released at this time.
