Midland native and Midland High graduate Bryce Hoppel competed and won in men’s 800 meter final at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Track & Field Trials held at Hayward Field on June 30, 2024 in Eugene, Oregon.
He set a U.S. Olympic Team Trials record and a personal record of 1 minute, 42.77 seconds to qualify for his second consecutive Olympic games. According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, Hoppel will compete in the first round of the men’s 800 meters at the Paris Olympics at 4:55 a.m. CDT on Aug. 7.
